Standing with the Standing Rock Sioux – We’re With Them!

were-with-themTonight, 40 people gathered at the Library with the Transition Steering Committee to stand in solidarity with the the Lakota and their allies over the issue of the Dakota Access Pipeline being built across their land, threatening the Missouri River, their sole water source as well as Native burial sites and sacred places.

To honor the 100 tribes gathered in North Dakota, we listened to Doug Henderson singing “Black Serpent,” Kai Sanburn reading a moving piece from Facebook, and took multiple photos, including the picture above, to be spread on social media.
Please share this photo on Facebook or other social media, referencing that you’re with Transition Lopez Island and use #NoDAPL
Thanks to Liz Lafferty for pulling this together and everyone who showed up at very short notice!
