Barnraising at Swallows Reach adds a new garden

On Friday, March 11th, twelve people gathered at Swallows Reach, off of Lopez Sound Road, to help this household of four intrepid people install a deer fence around their newly-revived garden space, clear the beds around fruit trees, and re-invigorate the landscaping.

Led by David Zapalac, a hard-working crew drove in cedar and metal posts, created a shallow trench with David’s unpatented pressure washer method, and strung up the fence.DSCN0925

Liz & Kim provided a fabulous chili lunch with all the fixings and just before dark, the hard-working crew gathered again for potluck, wine, dessert, and good conversation to celebrate the day’s accomplishments.
