Bountiful Harvest Dinner with keynotes, Ezra Fradkin, Claver Bundac, & the Bounty Photo Exhibit

Sponsored by the Lopez Community Land Trust, the annual Harvest Dinner on October 24th filled the Community Center to bursting with potluckers toting vegies and fruit from their own gardens and local farmstands along with island-grown cheese, meat, jams, pickled items, and even wild rabbit.  With such a wealth of color, texture, not to mention taste, Judges Marney Reynolds and Will Parks had a difficult time awarding prizes for only a few dishes representing the best use of local ingredients as well as most esthetic appearance.

As we sat digesting our fabulous meal, Ezra Fradkin reported on the results of his Foodshed Assessment collected over the last year (more on this in a future post), followed by an entertaining presentation on the history of food by Claver Bundac, the generous donor of the island’s own Food Safety Lab.

Stunning photos and profiles of the twenty-six farms participating in Bounty: Lopez Island Farmers, Food, & Community were on exhibit for the first time to complete Phase Two of the project.
